Christmas jumpers, classic cars and a chance to get the group together for a fund raising lunch at the Portavogie Quays .The mild weather was a blessing for our annual Christmas jumper run , nice to see a few old cars not Sorn made the run as well .
We met up for a spot of tea and a scone before heading out on our annual charity run ending up in the Quays Portavogie for a spot of lunch .
We had a bit of a ballot and the winner got their dinner for free.
The ballot raised some much needed funds for our charity this year The Net in Comber .
Thanks to all who made the journey and especially thanks for the kind donations to the Net.

Comber Classic Car Club annual BBQ 2024 went down a storm on Wednesday 21st August.
Our great plan to set up our mobile catering unit (Andrews BBQ KIT, Steve’s van) at Whiterock car park while our members took a scenic drive around Mahee was planned to the finest detail except it bucketed out of the heavens in typical Northern Ireland summer style. All was looking grim but for the kindest offer of shelter from our esteem member Raymond Walls . Raymond called not long before kickoff to insist we brought the entire operation to his wonderful museum. The BBQs were set up and it was all go to feed the freenzy .The night was a tremendous success and that was mostly down to the location, I must say a huge thank you to Raymond his collection is a must see for every motor fan, a trip down memory lane for every person who sees it .Big thanks to Robert from Lynas foods for suppling the tucker and Mervyn for the great eclairs
Thanks to all who braved the weather , another great CCCC event for the club that grows and grows.
Wednesday 31/07/24
Comber Classic Car Club Cards and Chippy contest , yes folks it was another Poker night with the CCCC Gang , big Neville plotted the route and the events team organised the chips .Every car was dealt a card at each of the stops along the way and the winner got to eat for free . Just a wee bit of fun on what was really another excuse to go out and eat somewhere. After the great success of the chippy run last year we just had to return to LGs in Comber .We sat 49 people in the restaurant section at the rear and again they delivered a faultless service , piping hot suppers all around and 49 well fed members went home happy.
Robert Johnston won the cards with his three of a kind , Well done Robert .
Another successful evening for the club , thanks to all our members for coming along .

We met Comber on a very warm evening we set off together for Murlogh bay, although the temperature at Dundrum was considerably lower than Comber , it didn’t put our members off their icy treat .
Thanks again to Everyone who came along , thanks to Robert for organising the Ice-cream.
Saturday 15/06/24
If you listened to the weather men and women you’d never plan to go anywhere. Thankfully Comber classic car club people pay little heed to Barra and his gang and our big day out to Kilbroney was a great success.
With around forty five members and friends we showed twenty cars on the allocated Comber Classic Car club stand at the beautiful Kilbroney forest park, Rostrever .Again this year , Prospectors Susan and Andrew went on Friday to stake our claim and agreed a perfect pitch for the group. We erected our new club gazebo and everything was set for the group’s arrival.
Thanks to Robert Johnston who organised a batch of Lynas foods bacon and baps and the CCCC catering corp provided teas ,coffees and a big bacon bap for all the gang on arrival.
We surprised Angela with a happy sixtieth birthday muffins design compliments of Mia Johnston, well done Mia.

Comber Classic Car Club received a friendly message from Karen the activities coordinator at Beechvale nursing home. Karen asked if we would consider coming down on an afternoon to give the residents of Beechvale a trip down memory lane with our collection of old cars. Of course our great members were only too happy to oblige and shined up their cars ready for a the Sunday afternoon visit to Beechvale.
Accompanied by two Harley Davidson motorcycles some 20 plus cars and many more members we arrived at at 2pm . We received a great reception from the residents , staff and visitors who were all enjoying the afternoon sunshine .
Our members reminisced with the residents who all seemed to have a story or two about a car they had owned that was just like the one you have there . Lovely memories provoked some happy chat amongst the group.
Karen organised the Ice-cream van and along with the great spread of tea and buns it really was a splendid afternoon for everyone.
Thanks to Beechvale for having us . Thanks so very much to all our members who came along to support this event and a special thanks to Lynas foods who supplied the tray bakes and buns for everyone to enjoy.

Hillsborough castle was the venue for Comber Classic Car Clubs latest run. The weather forecast had us all expecting the worst but seventeen cars did the run with twenty five people enjoying the castle tour.
The Hillsborough Castle team where brilliant and looked after us throughout the day with courtesy bus taking those who preferred not to get a good soaking up to the restaurant and shop .We even managed a group photo at the front of the Castle .
A great day out for all and a cracking start to the calendar for CCCC.
Thanks to everyone who came and a special thanks to all who helped to make it happen.
See you all at the next meeting on Monday 13th May .
Sunday 24/03/24
Day two of our March weekend jolly was simply a group outing to Crawfordsburn park . Get the cars out , bring the family and your dogs and we’ll all enjoy a rare bit of sun with a cup of tea and some rather lovely buscuity treats .
We really did hit lucky with the weather today which of course brought a strong turnout from the group , really good to catch up with some members I’ve not seen since last year and also welcome some new members too.
As always the treat table was heaving with homemade delights for everyone to enjoy
So here’s looking forward to another great year , next up its Hillsborough castle picnic and tour on Sunday 14/04/24. Hope to see all our members at that one .
Next meeting April 8th at Parkway community hall , new members very welcome, our membership runs from April to April so a great time to join.
See you all very soon
Friday 22/03/24
Was a busy weekend for the Comber Classic Car Club members as we kicked our 2024 calendar into gear .
First up was the Friday night for our second night navigating run around the Comber, Ballygowan and Killinchy backroads. Ashley Bolton kindly planned the route and prepared the grid reference for some 20 members and guests to try to decipher. Once we drew our routes on the maps provided off we headed to find the markers along the way .
The markers had an anagram of letters and once solved each driver had the chance to win their supper .
The supper was a steaming bowl of Stew at the Northdown house served with a bread roll . I must add the guys at the Northdown always go above and beyond to give the group a fantastic service. Thanks to Jordan , Christine and the other great staff for looking after us all so well .
Robert Skelly and Sam Snoddy solved the anagram and their names got pulled , so well done lads .
This really is an enjoyable event, it’s the second time we’ve run a Night Nav and certainly won’t be the last .
Thanks to everyone who came to support the run .
05-02-24 Comber Classic Car Club Cinema Night
Monday night was the 1st Monday in the month so should have been the usual monthly meeting. However, as there’s not a great deal happening in the classic car world through the winter months apart from planning the events for the year ahead. Thankfully though our very own Mervyn Waugh arranged a treat for the group.
We were given the chance to use the VIP private Cinema at City Side York Street .
We decided to show the original Italian job movie.
The Cinema was fantastic , leather reclining seats for everyone in the relaxed private suite . Mervyn doubled up the treat with a batch of the Waugh family Chocolate covered Eclairs putting the icing on a wonderful night for our members .
A huge thanks to Mervyn Waugh and family, a huge thank you to City Side Cinema for giving us this great night out .
A super start to the calendar year , we have so much planned for the year it’s looking like CCCC is going from strength to strength.
2023
19 -10-23 Comber Classic Car Club Chippy Cruise
As we have made quite it clear in most of our previous outings we do like a bit of Grub , so a Chippy run was always on the cards .
We thought hard about where to go as we like to get the group all together in one area ,to let the members have a chance to really get to know each other .
We looked all around for a chip shop restaurant with capacity for around 40+ and believe me they’re few and far between.
Then the penny dropped we had the very place on our own doorstep. So LGs it was.
We planned a 45min drive over Scrabo to Craigantlet and back to Comber , then up to LGs for what must be said was a smashing service with absolutely superb Suppers all round .
Liz and Gary seemed to just take us in their stride , the friendly girls served the group without a hiccup . All the plates were loaded and piping hot . The food was as good a chip shop as I’ve had . Everyone raved about the Grub !
Well done LGs CCCC will certainly be back and we’ll recommend you to anyone.
It was a very successful outing, absolutely fantastic to see so many members brave the forecast and come along , that’s what makes us Great.
08-12-23 Comber Classic Car Club Xmas Dinner
Almost fifty members and guests enjoyed a superb reception at Eight South Carryduff. The staff couldn’t have looked after us any better and the dinners were superb. We had a bit of fun with a fundraising ballot and supported a few local businesses with the prizes we purchased.
All in all it was a great nights craic and another great success for a group of people that just seem to enjoy each other’s company.
Thanks to all who came and joined us .
Here’s looking forward to another year of classic car club capers.
28-12-23 Comber Classic Car Club Xmas Charity Poker run
Comber Classic Car Club Charity Christmas Clobber Casino Cruise . well, poker run to be exact.
Yes we did it again, Christmas jumpers on for a lovely seaside drive and a few stops along the way to collect a hand of poker cards .
Each driver donated £5 for their cards and a local food bank project received the pot .
As ever the Quays welcome was superb, fire lit in the sports room and the Christmas atmosphere brought a smile to every face.
Angela won the Cards with three Tens , Mervyn not far behind with three Twos .
Big thank you to everyone who came along to support our run
