Our Story........So Far!

Comber Classic Car Club was in the pipeline for many years but with the busyness of everyday life we  never actually got around to setting it up. We had a couple of cars and other than a few outings  with another car club, the cars didn’t get much use.

Then two things happened in 2020 – Jack Shields who established our family business, J & W Body Repairs in 1974, retired and then we had to deal with a global pandemic. Covid forced us to temporarily close our business and that gave Stephen and myself plenty of time to scheme and plan Comber Classic Car Club.

Once we had plucked up the courage Stephen started a Facebook page to see if there was any interest in such a club within our community. We didn’t want it to be family members only!

We had our first meeting in the Summer of 2021 and although there were Covid restrictions in place the response was amazing. Fifteen people turned up and the momentum has continued from there.

The ethos is simple - We would really like to have a club where car enthusiasts can get together and  enjoy their cars along with their family and friends. We hope that it will be a club where all  generations can share their love of classic cars and we will strive to organise events and outings that appeal to all members of the group.

So that's our short story so far from August 2021 to June 2022 and we now have 47 members which is fantastic in less than a year. It's been a short journey so far but we're determined to keep it going and if you'd like to come along for the ride please get in touch.
